A Pair of George IV Silver Sauce Boats, London 1820 by Paul Storr Silver comportenquire This rare pair of silver sauce boats are of large bellied oval form with a gadrooned rim sweeping round the down swept pouring lip. C scroll handle topped with cast acanthus leaf decoration. Standing on three cast, acanthus topped, lions paw feet. Each sauce boat is hallmarked to the underside for London 1820 by Paul Storr. This pair of sauce boats are in extremely good condition with no damage or repairs. The hallmarks are clear with some

a large central sugar caster flanked by 2 smaller casters for pepper and mustard or cayenne pepper

The cast silver finials and the cast ram’s heads and their  featheredge supports are exceptional by any standard

The lid is marked with the maker’s mark and the lion passant

pierced and decorated with floral cast rim and  three cast acanthus and shell form feet

He was made post-Captain in 1794 and in 1803 he was placed in charge of the North Foreland District of the Sea Fencibles

allowing the pair to be used as a three-light or a four-light combination

This has a concealed hinge and it’s original key

The teapot was inscribed “This silver tea Pott was presented to the committee of the East India Company by the Right Hono George Ld Berkley of Berkley Castle

This is a very good tray in excellent original condition
