The rest of the carpet is flooded with flowers

It is made from wool and comes from the city of Tabriz

with two differently sized lamp motifs surrounding the design

with Turkestan tribal influences

and at times the Tree of Life

The majority of the weavers are from the Afshar tribe

The  focal point of this carpet is certainly the vase and flowers that sit just south of the actual centre

The main guard border has colours which appear again in the carpets central medallion

It is highly collectable

and it is quite possible that this was what was intended by the master weaver as such a symbol quite often was employed to protect the owner from misfortune and in particular to ward off the 'evil eye'
