Large Yellow Aldo Fish Oval Platter greenThe late Aldo Cremona, who was still working for us aged 86, was one of Villa Bologna Potterys best painters and came up with some of our most recognisable designs. Among them is this fishy one, which weve named in memory of him. Each and every one is highly worked with many layers of hand painting and is something of a collectible. decided that he’d had enough of painting only men and decided to turn some of our Admiral vases – a nod to Malta’s seafaring military history – into women

they’re shaped like the leaping fish caught on Maltese fishermen’s boats – though they also remind us of the carved creatures in Villa Bologna’s Dolphin Pond
