The unique appearance and texture of the flowers have earned the plant common names such as "Carrion Plant" or "Stapelia

The whole plant produce a caustic milky sap that can cause skin rash

after roots form transplant into the growing container

creeping groundcover with dainty bright golden yellow leaves

later branching basally (or dichotomously) to form large mounds up to 50 cm in diameter (or more) barely rising above ground level
