Dorset Coastline Silver Bead (Lyme Regis - Bournemouth) SilverWe are surrounded by fantastic coastline and wanted to represent on a piece of jewellery the shape of the sea meeting the land. We took one piece of coastline from each county by studying maps and reduced it until it could fit perfectly onto a small bead. The tube shape was the best way to show the line, which is engraved and then repeated on the other side. The brushed silver representing the land and the polished the sea. This Dorset Coastline bead

The bead is made from white glass and then rolled in handmade frit ( tiny shards of coloured glass) The bead is then gravity swirled which is heating the colours at a very high temperature and allowing them to mix into one another

The inspiration behind this bead was to capture the continuous waves rolling into Anglet

J-Bay plays host to yearly WSL surf comps where the biggest names in surfing flock to surf its famously perfect right hand point

which divides the beach

The bead is then decorated in a handmade frit (tiny shards of glass) the colours within this frit represent the colours found within the grasses along the dunes and coastline

Huge rocks jutting from the ocean surface just offshore are represented by the blue bubbles with the grey hues of the cliffs and moody skies on this particular day
