Skeletons №3 – Iceland AntarcticaArtwork Information Along the southern coast of Iceland, retreating glaciers leave behind vast moraines shaped by meltwater and sediment. What remains is a landscape marked by erosion and flowreduced to lines, textures, and directional forms embedded in earth and sand. Some of these formations resemble skeletal remains, as if traces of something ancient had surfaced. Their size and shape are difficult to grasp, detached from clear reference points.

Slower freezing rates tend to produce larger bubbles

This orderly formation gives rise to the beautiful patterns visible in the ice

and browns seen in the frozen lagoon

and carbon dioxide are released and form pockets of air which are then trapped in the ice

The fascinating thing is that this geometry

Dark silhouettes of ravens occasionally appear on the ice

dissolved gases like nitrogen

Fed by glacial meltwater

Light and shadow define the dramatic contours

On a cold winter’s day in a forest near Hamburg

due to the presence of volcanic ash

along with the river that flows into it
