Freddy Nerks - Rosso 2016 (750ml) Maremma ToscanaThe Rosso is a blend of varieties that are from the more vigorous parts of the vineyard or wine that has been excluded from the small volume luxury offerings of Freddy Nerks. The varieties are vinified separately and aged predominantly in stainless steel tanks. The style of wine is medium bodied and fruit forward. An honest blend that captures the essence of Kuitpo rather than promoting the characteristics of the individual varieties. It reminds me of

- the other 40% of the final blend comes from the bottom of the slope (40 years old vines on the "pied de coteau")

ripe peach are followed by subtle aromas of lychee and elderflower

the addition of American oak aging gives the wine its unique flavors of marshmallow

currants and vanilla beans

dry winter and the rain and cooler weather didn’t arrive until the end of March

The dry core is still keeping the fruit in check
