Chateau Filhot Vintage 1990 VINTAGE WINES 1972This Sauternes estate dates back to 1630 and the chateau was built in 1709 by Romain de Filhot. After the French Revolution it passed to the Our Saluces family. Today it is owned and managed by Gabriel de Vaucelles, a descendent of Filhot. The 1990 vintage was fabulous for the sweet wines of Bordeaux. Typical blend, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, Muscadelle. 75cl bottle. 1978 was a wonderful vintage for the region

but good producers made some good wines

François took the smaller property that did not include the physical château and named the estate Haut-Batailley

from grower to cellar to bottle

Probably not for the long haul

but with a few hours’ air it opens to become quite approachable

this Eau de Vie is made from the pomace of the San Colombano and Trebianco grapes

trading hands from the influential Ségur family to the Copmartin family

Coming to believe that 2001 may be up there with 98 and 99 in the Musar Pantheon
